This is because when we do that, the information would send very strong vibrations to the brain and it will help your baby's brain to develop better and faster.

Mostly though, the cards are not flashed for them to remember or to learn... but just to stimulate their mind. The end result though is that they WILL remember these things and when they learn them academically in future, they will find it easy to remember, use and spell these words and name these things.

You are encouraged to flash 100-250 flashcards to your child per month. Try not to repeat flashing the same cards twice in each sitting and once the child is bored, switch to some other activity ;)

Usually, try to start with pictures first as children remember better with imaging rather than words. After the pictures, you can slowly insert the words inside as well.

You can start flashcard flashing from three months onwards. I really regret only starting NOW.. cos Ace is already 22 months old. But nevertheless, I do my best to catch up ;)

Most importantly, to Ace, it is like watching TV and he finds it fun as well. He likes the flashcards so much that he will actually point to his flashcards and ask me to let him repeat again.

He enjoys it so much that now before our flashcard sessions, he will readily start doing the prep exercises like the energy ball and the hugging.. ;)

Here are some tips for flashcard flashing based on my personal exeprience:

Switch off all disruptions like radio, TV, etc.

Always prepare your lesson and pack your cards in advance so that you dun need to stop in between

Start by giving your child a hug to connect and praise your child first. If you are a shichida mummy, then do the energy ball to prepare the right brain

If you want, you can play auto suggestion tape in the background (I play the Fun With Numbers disc in the background)

Flash at a speed of 0.5-1 second per card

Flash mostly picture cards and only 10%-20% word cards

Put the cards at slightly above your child's eye level 30cm away

Place the stack of cards upright on your left palm and pick the card you want to flash from the back of the pack and shift it to the front using your right hand. When the card touches your left palm, then say the name of the card.

Make sure you say the name correctly!

Write down the name on the back of the card for easy reference

Practice, practice, practive! Practice flashing while you watch TV!

Make it fun!

Change cards when your baby gets bored with them

Note, the cards should not be the only activities you do, do also do other right brain activities to make your home sessions interesting ;)

Here are some free ones I found from the web to get you started ;)

http://www.esljunction.com/esl-efl-flashcards/esl-tefl-efl-flashcards.html

http://www.firstschoolyears.com/

http://www.mes-english.com/

http://instantresource.net/12/learning-4.php?k=free+flashcards

http://www.flashcardexchange.com/register
<*ANGEL*>http://www.blogger.com/profile/01056533735876988690noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2845512893490434659.post-16850224360692988692007-04-29T20:46:00.000-07:002007-05-07T10:54:18.425-07:00Shichida Lesson 4 (2 y/o)Start all lessons by hugging your child and singing the good afternoon song.

After that, start gathering the energy ball and throw it high into the air and splash on their heads and then brush away the bad things and gather another energy ball, compress it and eat it.

Breathing Training:

Draw a picture of a water melon and a fly on top (that is linked to your water melon by a strip of paper of laminated plastic.

Ask your baby to blow away the fly and after they blow away the fly, they can 'eat' the watermelon.

Sight Training

Draw a colourful picture of something. But it is not difficult to show your love at all!

I received this in my mailbox today and it really warmed my heart. Enjoy!

----------------------------------------------------------

Last Christmas I wanted to give our children something a little more meaningful than plastic swords, light sabers, and roller blades. So I decided to write each of them a heartfelt letter expressing my love for them. In the letter I told them how proud I was of them and that I loved them simply for who they were. I also listed some of their talents and strengths and thanked them for everything they do to make our family a success. Before they were allowed to open their one Christmas Eve present, I told them that I had a special gift for them and passed out the letters. The children who were old enough to read went ahead and read their letters, while my husband and I read the letters to the younger children. They all gave a sincere thanks and then were ready to move on to opening presents.

However, my nine year old son announced, "Wait, I'm not finished reading mine yet!" We all waited as he finished. Tears began to stream down his face. Then he hopped off the couch, walked over to me and gave me the longest, warmest hug I think I've ever received from him!

I was so moved that my fun-loving, basketball, soccer-playing son was so touched by these simple words of love. This was the boy that had knocked over a bucket of bright blue paint all over light tan carpet when his dad was painting his room. He was the one who made a two foot hole in our wall while mattress surfing down our stairs. He is the one who stood on a cupboard door to reach something up high and not only broke it right off its hinges, but also cracked the cupboard door in half (in not one, but two houses!)

This is the same boy who wore the same dirty socks for five days in a row before we noticed an awful smell coming from his feet. He was the one who managed to wear out several pairs of jeans and a pair of shoes in just one month and always came home from school with a dirty shirt.

This was also the boy who took care of his two year old sister every night when she asked for a drink of water or wanted a story. He was the one who brought her to mom and dad if she got scared in the night and fixed her a bowl of cereal every morning.

This was the boy who tenaciously practiced his multiplication test over and over until he could fill out all 144 squares in less than three minutes. He is the one who always unloaded his dishwasher without being asked. This was the boy who stood in my arms and cried on Christmas Eve.

Later on that night he went upstairs to his room and re-read the letter, again becoming teary-eyed. When his sister asked him if he was okay, he simply said, "My letter -- it's...happy!" As I went to kiss him good-night I saw him re-reading the letter one last time before his eyes closed in sleep.

We all enjoyed opening our gifts the next morning, but the best gift I received was a sincere warm hug of thanks from a teary-eyed nine-year old boy with a dimple in his cheek, perpetual holes in his jeans, and smelly socks!

--Wendy Jensen--<*ANGEL*>http://www.blogger.com/profile/01056533735876988690noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2845512893490434659.post-3690629567485045882007-04-16T09:28:00.000-07:002007-04-16T09:31:46.030-07:00Breathing Exercise- OctopusRemember the octopus I was telling you about to help your baby breathe?

Under my instructions, Waipo took like 10 mins to create this:

It is not quite the same as the one they used in class but what the heck, the whole purpose is just to make him blow.. doesnt matter how it looks.

Apparently, it works cos Ace is happily blowing at the tentacles now ;)

This is how you should be blowing it ;)

Good luck!<*ANGEL*>http://www.blogger.com/profile/01056533735876988690noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2845512893490434659.post-58107684515720439542007-04-15T10:17:00.000-07:002007-04-22T20:08:28.964-07:00Ace’s Shichida Training- Lesson 2 (2y/o)Start all lessons by hugging your child and singing the good afternoon song.

After that, start gathering the energy ball and throw it high into the air and splash on their heads and then brush away the bad things and gather another energy ball, compress it and eat it.

Breathing Training:

Draw a picture of an OPEN BOOk.
